How to read NAS manga — local, WebDAV, and Komga
How to read NAS manga? Local, WebDAV, and Komga paths
What you need
- iPhone or iPad
- A manga source: local files, WebDAV/SMB, or a server library you already run
- A reader that can open those sources (for example ManYue)
Path A: Offline CBZ / CBR
- Place files where the Files app can see them
- Import CBZ / CBR / CB7 / ZIP / RAR / 7z / PDF in the reader
- Use shelves and bookmarks; read fully offline on weak networks
Path B: WebDAV / SMB to the NAS
- Enable WebDAV or SMB on the NAS or cloud drive
- Add the connection in the reader (address, path, account)
- Test with a small folder before syncing progress (if you need sync)
If it fails, check protocol, port, path, permissions, and LAN vs secure remote access.
Path C: Komga / Kavita / Suwayomi
- Confirm the service opens in a desktop browser
- Add the matching server-library type in the reader
- Browse, read online, or download for offline
OPDS: catalogs with page-by-page APIs can be read directly; whole-package-only entries usually need a download first.
FAQ
Progress synced but the book is missing?
Sync moves reading data; whether the file exists on the other device is a separate check.
Do I have to buy a membership?
Only if you need NAS connect, sync, or server libraries. A few local files can start with base features.
Private reader vs online manga apps?
Your own library → private reader; platform serials → content sites. See also ManYue.
